HARVEST by Haroshi 'Skate & Destroy' Art Exhibition

HARVEST by haroshi has been a refreshing take on recycled artwork, known for producing various items out of used skate decks. Showcasing all of the collective’s work throughout the years, they recently held an exhibition at the PLSMIS Gallery in Tokyo.

"Skate decks eventually see its life shortened by snapping, cracking and/or wearing out. Purchasing new decks is a never ending cycle and this was evident by the tower of old decks that were reaching to the ceiling of my room. We can’t throw away these decks because they hold sentimental meanings to us. I looked at these unusable decks every day and thought there must be something I can make with these. I decided to make some accessories with the old decks and this was the birth of Harvest. The works of Harvest are through the perspectives of a skater and as an artist. As a skater, I want to take responsibility of reusing skateboards when they were no longer useable. Also, as an artist I want to explore the possibilities of what can be done with skateboards. We see the care and effort that a skater can have for his/her deck and we also acknowledge the origins of a skateboard. We believe that if the small things we do can connect to sustainability then we’re doing something right. We’d be satisfied in our effort when people look at products and start thinking of ways to recycle."

The Mic With Mike

This picture comes from straight out of the lab (Just took it Tonight)... It captures the true essence of my work, which goes beyond what i do behind the mic and pays homage to arguably the BEST entertainer to ever live... and moonwalk across a stage. R.I.P Michael Jackson. Another reason why i keep this poster behind the mic is because Thriller is a DOPE ass album!

Fashion Etiquette

This site is ill. One of the most simple ways to become a fashion aficionado is by studying style. This site is comparable to the encyclopedia of clothing and style. Below is a post on the origins of tweed.

Trav: Tweed is one of those timeless fabrics that has been present in wardrobes for generations. With the recent popularity of tweed, it is no longer the fabric only worn by grandpas and old college professors.
There are three different types of tweed: Donegal tweed, a handwoven tweed manufactured in Ireland, Silk tweed, a hand woven fabric made of raw silk, and of course, Harris Tweed, a luxury cloth handwoven in Scotland.
There is some interesting history behind this fabric: Harris Tweed was originally woven by hand centuries ago by the people of the Western Isles of Scotland. The fabric was used to battle the blistering winters and later became a source of barter. Rumor has it that the original name for the fabric was “tweel”, but around 1830, a merchant received a letter referring to the fabric and misunderstood the handwriting to read “tweed”, thinking it referenced the River Tweed in the borders region of Scotland. The name stuck and to this day we call the fabric by the mistakenly given name.

The Wire Greatest 100 Quotes: The Other Ones

Always was a fan of this show

Stronger

Its been a while since I posted anything with real relevance to my life or anything that i had actually dwelled on in deep philosophical thought...

The phrase "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is one that  is extremely prevalent in an individuals progression through life and maturation. I am an avid believer that experiences build character. Although everybody wishes things happened in favor of their expectations, without a storm every now and then one wouldn't be able to recognize the value of good weather. In the same breadth a common belief is that some hardships come as a result of some type of karma. Grab a plate... Just some food for thought.
